We do NYC

Katie got 4 Wicked tickets for her 20th birthday. She's a spoiled brat and it's totally her Dad's fault. So, it was me, Katie B, Jennifer B and Lena.We flew in on Friday evening, found our very cool apartment on the 35th floor next door to the Empire State Building thanks to Jen and her very cool new job with Silk Trading Company, thanks again Jen!

We began, where else, at the top of the Empire State Bldg to view the city that first night(cold and windy up there). Saturday began at Bloomingdale's, FAO Schwarz, Tiffany and everywhere in between. We saw "Wicked" and then on to see the ice skaters and the great tree at Rockefeller Center. We ate dinner at Hard Rock in Times Square and fell into bed completely exhausted.

Sunday began with the 9am show at Radio City for the Christmas Spectacular. The show ends with a live nativity including real camels, glorious.

Then a whirlwind tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, subway to Ground Zero, Battery Park and Greenwich Village for dinner and cupcakes.

We saw a roving band of gymnasts do a street show where they behaved very dangerously, got our picture made with an itinerant black Santa, got the wheelchair stuck in a revolving door, danced across Park Avenue like goofballs, stopped strangers at every turn to take our picture, met a nice boy with a huge pink wig who told us he loved us, got meowed at on the subway by a lady with scary teeth, had some really great meals and just basically chased Katie who was always about 20 paces ahead over the entire island.

And, I left a lot out just now.It makes me tired all over again.Lena had foot surgery in November, so she was a real sport to let us take her on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride around the city in a rented wheelchair.Happy Birthday Katie Baby!

Ah! Just saw the word, NYC, in your archived posts and had to read it. I love that place. It was my remote home for 15 glorious months. I love the randomness and variety of that space. The funniest thing was one day I was in a phone booth and there was a fake plastic leg (from the knee down) just propped up against the corner. Totally bizarre.
